About Us

Hi! My name is Dani and I am the heart and soul behind The Battery Skate Shop.

As a roller derby player and avid skater, I love seeing the skate community grow. I started this business in July 2020 with the goal of sharing my love for roller skating, with all of you!
I’m also a dog lover to the core and enjoy hiking around our beautiful province in the summer. When I’m not working on the shop, you can usually find me working at a local doggie daycare or relaxing with my own pups. Thanks for popping by! :)
We often get asked about our name, on the outside The Battery is known for its jagged cliffs, harbour view and colourful houses. Locally however, we know of its historic significance and the resilient community who live there to this day. In my opinion, this small neighbourhood near the St. John's harbour is nothing short of magical.
Our goal at The Battery Skate Shop is to help the local roller skating community grow. We are working on bringing in the roller skating essentials. She is always looking for ways to better serve the skate community, including partaking in other educational sessions. If you are looking for something specific and you don't see it, shoot us a message and we'd love to help.

As a business that is dedicated to our province, we feel it is important to acknowledge the history of our province.

We respectfully acknowledge the land on which we gather as the ancestral homelands of the Beothuk [bee-oth-uck], whose culture has been lost forever and can never be recovered. We also acknowledge the island of Ktaqmkuk [uk-dah-hum-gook] (Newfoundland) as the unceded, traditional territory of the Beothuk and the Mi'kmaq [mee-gum-maq]. And we acknowledge Labrador as the traditional and ancestral homelands of the Innu [in-new] of Nitassinan [ne-tass-eh-nen], the Inuit [in-new-eet] of Nunatsiavut [nu-nat-see-ah-vut], and the Inuit of NunatuKavut [nu-nah-tuhk-ah- vut]. We recognize all First Peoples who were here before us, those who live with us now, and the seven generations to come. As First Peoples have done since time immemorial, we strive to be responsible stewards of the land and to respect the cultures, ceremonies, and traditions of all who call it home. As we open our hearts and minds to the past, we commit ourselves to working in a spirit of truth and reconciliation to make a better future for all.
